• If you do get away without major engine damage, cam belt failure will still leave you stranded and requiring breakdown recovery.
• The cam belt is made from a rubber-based compound that deteriorates over time, even with low mileage.
• Your Skoda's cam belt must be renewed no later than the maximum recommended change interval (this is dependent on the model but is typically between 40,000 and 120, 000 miles).
• Skoda also recommend your cam belt is changed every 4 years even if the maximum mileage has not been reached.
